Christie Coker
studied Art at Lamar University in Beaumont,
Texas.
Upon
graduation in 1981, she embarked on
a teaching career that
spanned 17 years. During those years, Christie continued
her own artistic endeavors through continued education and
various exhibition opportunities.
Since moving to Houston in 1995,
Christie has become active in the Houston Arts Community. She is affiliated with
the Visual Arts Alliance (VAA), the Watercolor Art Society of
Houston (WAS-H), and Women in the Visual and Literary Arts
(WIVLA). Christie has served on the Board of VAA as the
Exhibition Chair and has served as a committee chairperson for
WAS-H. She
is also involved with City Artworks’ "Art After School" program
which brings artistic enrichment to our elementary schools. |
